Continue with the discussion on the previous topic on the Google Search Index speed (refer to http://ga-onlinemarketing.rhcloud.com/?p=91), I am testing on the speed of the Google crawling robot. The Last time when I submit a sitemap to Google Search, it takes days to index just 6 entries, This is too slow and makes my content cannotbe found by the visitors through search.
I have done some research on the internet and found that Google is indexing the large pool of websites according to the active level on social activities.
Therefore, I started my second trial. After I have submitted a new updated sitemap, the second time, I immediately add all my posts to StumbleUpon. StumbleUpon is good tool to get a short and temporary high traffic. The effect is in short term only so I didn’t always try on that.
However, after the sumission and a high peak of traffic from SumbleUpon, the next day when I woke up, checked the Google webmasters tool again, I found that the indexing speed is increased! Last time it took days to index 6 pages out of 33. And, it takes 1 day to index 11 pages out of 40. That’s much faster.
From this test, it is obvious that Google has a special sequence on indexing webpages. Even multiple pages came from a same single site, they maybe indexed separately. Obviously the active level and number of visitors are a critical factor. However, compare with the indexing speed with Google and Bing, Bing did it much faster. For the same sitemap, Bing finished the indexing of all 40 pages within one day, whereas Google still haven’t finish indexing the same 40 pages for more than 2 days.
Therefore, Google Search index is proved to be slow. Continue reading
